Feb. 20 meeting to focus on Newville Road to Rock Co. line area
A meeting to discuss an upcoming roadway project and its effect on the Newville area will take Feb. 20 from 5-7 p.m., according to a state transportation authority.
The Department of Transportation is planning a large-scale reconstruction of Interstate 39/90 to correct traffic congestion issues the agency said it identified from the Illinois state line to Madison.
The Feb. 20 meeting will cover plans that impact the Newville area, including:
- Expanding I-39/90 to six lanes
- Replacing the Rock River bridges
- Constructing a new diamond interchange at Highway 59 with roundabouts at the ramp terminals and Goede Road intersection
- Removing the Goede Road bridge over I-39/90 and constructing a frontage road on the west side of the Interstate that connects to Hemenway Lane and Highway 59
The proposed improvements are part of the I-39/90 expansion project from the Illinois state line to the U.S. 12/18 interchange near Madison.
In a news release, the DOT said it encouraged area residents and business to attend the public meeting to provide input and ask questions.
The evening meeting will take place at Fulton Town Hall, 2738 W. Fulton Center Dr. in Edgerton.
The DOT has also set up a Facebook page to keep the public informed on the project and a DOT newsletter offered details about the expansion including maps.
The DOT also created an online form for feedback.
