Official Opening Announced For St. Mary's Janesville Hospital, Dean Clinic | Business

This week community members, project construction workers and Dean Clinic staff helped mark the midway point in the construction of the new St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital and Dean Clinic.

At a football themed celebration, complete with the Janesville Craig marching band, it was officially announced that the first patients will walk through the doors of the new Janesville Medical Campus on January 9, 2012. 

The structure is now fully enclosed, and most of the work on the building’s exterior is wrapping up.  Meanwhile, workers are now focusing on the inside.  On the fourth floor of the hospital, drywall is up in some of the single-patient rooms.  Framing is still in progress on the floors below, according to hospital officials.

"As work continues on the project, the workers will move from the top of the building down as they complete the project," according to St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital President Kerry Swanson.

Swanson, along with Dean Clinic President & CEO Dr. Craig Samitt, SSM Healthcare President & CEO Mary Starmann-Harrison and Dean Clinic Provider Dr. Daniel Staddler provided a brief halftime report to update the community on progress and what will happen over the next year.

"Just a couple of miles across town, our physicians and staff are planning our programs and our services and our vision for this campus," said Dr. Samitt.  "This campus will include all that we’ve known to love at the Riverview Clinic plus more, including new services such as cardiac rehab, outpatient psychiatry, procedure suites, the expansion of several specialty services, as well as the delivery of high-technology options."

When open, the new hospital and clinic will employ nearly 700 people. 

"Most of the job openings for the medical facility will be posted next spring.  The hiring and training will start shortly after that,"said Swanson.
